McCroskey and McCain's two of the three types of attractions are depicted in the book Song of Songs referenced above. "When people are socially attractive, we also usually think that they would fit in well with our circle of friends and our family." (7) Soloman, the one who wrote the Song of Songs, is referring to his bride as a sister. He believes they are so good together, that he can call her part of the family in faith and in the physicial sense.
The other type of attraction represented in this passage is physical. According to McCroskey and McCain, this, "Results when we are drawn to people's look..." (7) Soloman was obviously drawn to his wife with her eyes, and if you keep reading that section, the rest of her appearance, and aroma.
The Bible has endorsed relationships from the beginning. "The Lord God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." Genesis 2:18 (NIV) This verse is a great illustration of reward value, one of the Kelley's Four Compenents that influence how we interact with others. Kelley describes a reward value-relationship when, "...[People] hope to obtain benefits or rewards, such as companionship, affection, sex, fun, and sometimes even financial resources." (8) Eve was created to be a companion and friend to Adam.
